This Privacy Policy describes how fairShare ("we," "us," or "our") handles your information. Our philosophy is simple: we only collect the bare minimum data necessary to make the app's features work for you.
1. Our Commitment to Your Privacy
We do not sell your data. We have no intention of ever selling, renting, or trading your personal information to third parties.
Minimum Data Collection: We only collect data that is strictly required to provide the services you use, such as scanning receipts and sharing bills with friends.
2. Information We Collect and Why
We collect the following "bare minimum" data to enable app functionality:
A. App Functionality Data
Receipt Images: When you scan a receipt, the image is uploaded to our secure servers to extract prices and items. Receipt images are automatically deleted after 30 days.
Bill & Split Data: We store the items, prices, and how they are assigned to people so that your group can see the totals.
Live Share Sessions: We use anonymous identifiers to let you and your friends join the same session in real-time without needing to create a formal account (email/password).
B. Purchase Information
Transaction IDs: If you purchase scan packs or subscriptions, we receive a transaction ID from Apple to verify your purchase and update your scan balance. We do not see or store your credit card or billing details; that is handled entirely by Apple.
3. How Data is Shared
Data is only shared in the following "bare minimum" scenarios:
With Your Friends: When you share a "Live Share" code, the people you gave the code to can see the receipt items and assignments.
Service Providers: We use industry-standard providers to host the app:
Google Firebase: To store bill data and images securely.
Apple: To process and validate your in-app purchases.
Vercel: To run the logic that processes your receipts.
4. Security
We use industry-standard encryption to protect your data while it is being sent to our servers and while it is stored. Because we use anonymous authentication, your data is tied to your specific device.
5. Your Rights
Since we don't collect names or emails, your data is identified by a random ID on your device. You can "delete" your data by deleting the app, or you can contact us if you have specific questions.
